Allen Company Punisher 52” Neoprene Shotgun Case, Realtree Max-7

This is a great shotgun case: the material is nice and thick, it is well padded, should be fairly weather proof, and the camo pattern makes it ideal for waterfowl as it is a lot less easy to spot if you have it laying out somewhere. The zipper is actually GOOD: nice and beefy rather than the cheap garbage zippers I usually find on other shotgun cases. The handles are stitched on well too.Initially I was going to dock it one star because I am not particularly fond of cases like this where the zipper doesn’t open all the way along the length of the case, but the more I thought about my use-case for this, the more I realized that this design is actually ideal. I will be using this to transport my shotgun from my truck to the duckboat and to the blind, and there is always a lot of potential for it to get wet, and I think the fact that the only opening is at the very back makes it a lot less likely to let any water it.The biggest failure point for me over the years with any case is when the sight beads snag on the material on the inside. I don’t think that will be an issue with this as the inside of the case is the same neoprene material as the outside. Time will tell I guess, but I am pretty sure this will hold up for a long time.The only other complaints I can come up with is that I wish this had a pouch on it for extra things like my other case does. I am in the habit of storing stuff like my choke tubes in there, or whenever I remove my plug I like to keep it in the case so it’s always where I expect it to be… this does not have that. I also would have liked to have a shoulder strap: it is mighty nice to have one when you are dragging a huge bag of decoys out. Not a deal breaker, but something that would have made this case perfect. I will probably just device some sort of way to fix it to my hunting pack.All in all, for the price, I think this is an excellent case for going out in the field.
